Sometimes referred to as mythomania or pseudologia fantastica, pathological lying generally manifests as lying for lying’s sake. ![]() Pathological lying is a behavior pattern in which individuals lie chronically or compulsively. When narcissistic pathological lying begins to interfere with someone’s personal life or the lives of those around them, it may be time to consider a conversation with a therapist or other trained mental health professional. This may seem like nothing more than an obnoxious personality trait - and in some cases, it is - but lying to this level can also be a symptom of a larger problem.
